According to Velvet Park Magazine and Broadcastingcable.com:

The L Word spin-off: It will star The L Word’s Leisha Hailey and will be a “very different, substantially different show” from The L Word, he says.

Hailey’s character Alice Pieszecki goes to jail, where the new show would be set. While The L Word, which will conclude as a series after its yet-to-premiere sixth season, focuses primarily on a community of lesbians, the spin-off would involve a broad spectrum of characters, including some lesbians, Greenblatt says: “It’s a big group of characters and there’s a few lesbians in that group, but it isn’t the exact makeup of what The L Word was.”

When asked if it is a “female Oz,” he says that was “not a bad description,” though it would not be as dark as Oz, the gritty, former HBO series.

Three guest stars appear in the pilot and may or may not go forward on the series should it get picked up: Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Famke Janssen and Laurie Metcalf.

Greenblatt says he expects to make a decision about the pilot, which he has not yet seen cut together, in the next couple of months.

Can someone tell me why Showtime is determined to spoil the entire sixth season of The L Word? If the writers were going for a mystery thriller based on who killed Jenny, and now we know Alice lands in jail, is there really any suspense for the last eight episodes? Oh my, do I see a shark down there?

“The Rachel Maddow Show,” her left-leaning news and commentary program, has averaged a higher rating among 25- to 54-year-olds than “Larry King Live” on CNN for 13 of the 25 nights she has been host.

Ms. Maddow’s regular appearances on “Countdown” and her popularity on the Internet has certainly helped her ratings. Ms. Maddow, a former AIDS activist, was also presumably helped by her four years on the Air America radio network.

When the L-Word debuted in 2004, networks were astounded that the new television series did so well at capturing a diverse television audience in addition to its anticipated gay following. Since the L-Word’s success television networks have attempted to replicate the Lesbian story line into various television shows.

With the L-Word entering its final television season, savvy networks attempting to build on the success of the Lesbian drama are eyeing The Seer (www.watchtheseer.com). Billed as Cagney and Lacy, meets Medium, meets the L-Word, The Seer captures both mainstream and gay audiences with its powerful crime solving story line with a lesbian undertone.

The Seer, the brainchild of creator/writer Linda Andersson, takes its audience on the journey of Lesbian Private Detective Guin Marcus who struggles professionally and personally with her powers as The Seer, a visionary who is frequently hired by the L.A.P.D. to help solve crimes. In addition to assisting the L.A.P.D., Guin’s steamy love life is guaranteed to satiate the lonely L-Word audience.

The Pilot for The Seer has been reviewed by Hollywood insiders and the buzz of the “to be” drama has already leaked to Lesbian web sites like AfterEllen.com “With no new news on Elizabeth Keener’s proposed lesbian crime show for here! Network, maybe The Seer will hit the air first. And we’ll get to enjoy a lot more of Michelle, Deborah and clairvoyant lesbians with guns.”

The Seer – Trailer

Last night, on the finale of MTV’s A Shot at Love 2, host and bisexual bachelorette Tila Tequila missed her shot at love when she chose and was rejected by lesbian lover Kristy. Tila was down to two contestants, potential boyfriend Bo and Kristy.

However, after a steamy makeout session with Kristy in the hot tub, Tila was surprised when Kristy rejected her final key. “You love that I’m honest and that I’m true to my feelings and true about who I am,” Kristy told a teary Tila. “If I take this key, I’m not being true.” Whatev!

“Why would you do that now?” Tila asked. “Why would you put me through all this process… I feel humiliated.”

Alas, little Tila Tequila still hasn’t found her “true love,” so we’re probably looking at a ANOTHER season of MTV’s A Shot at Love. Gee Whiz.
