Tina Fey, now the star of “30 Rock,” returned to Saturday Night Live to play Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for the premiere of the show’s new season. Fey bears a striking resemblance to Palin and nailed the candidate’s distinctive accent. Fey and Amy Poehler opened the show with a joint appearance as Palin and Hillary Clinton. The two politicians addressed the ugly issue of sexism in the campaign.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as a qualification for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages. Read full story.
