Faking it for Sappho’s sake is nothing new in pop culture, but what was once a winking tease has, in the summer of 2008, hit an obnoxious fever pitch. This is due in no small part to Lindsay Lohan, who has been engaged in a very public relationship with Samantha Ronson. Read more

Two loving parents regardless of gender and sexual orientation DO HAVE value! Two parent families are good for America. AGREED, 1 female + another female = TWO Parent Family!
The Lambda Legal Defense Fund estimates 6 million to 10 million gay parents are caring for 6 million to 14 million children.
There are 119,000 children waiting to be adopted in this country, about half of them racial and ethnic minorities. There are about 588,000 children in foster care. Legislators pushing bans on gay adoption and fostering must argue that it’s better for these children to languish in state custody, or bounce from foster home to foster home, than be raised by gay parents.
Just as there is no data to support the claim that children raised by gay parents fare worse than those raised by heterosexual ones, there is no data to suggest that foster care is preferable to gay parenting. That’s why almost every serious child welfare entity, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Child Welfare League of America and the American Psychological Association, recognizes that gay parents are no worse than heterosexual ones.
In fact, a study by two University of Southern California sociologists says children with lesbian or gay parents show more empathy for social diversity, are less confined by gender stereotypes, and are probably more likely to explore homosexual activity themselves. Writing in recent issue of the American Sociological Review, the authors say that the emotional health of the two sets of children is essentially the same.

Now that the International Criminal Court has finally issued an arrest warrant for Omar Hassan al-Bashir, president of the Sudan, how much time must elapse before the women of Darfur actually feel the effects? After years of hemming and hawing and hand-wringing at the United Nations, (which has officially acknowledged over 400,000 deaths as a result of the war, then admitted that it might have underestimated the death toll figures by 50 percent), women and girls are still being raped daily by Janjaweed militia, armed with weapons imported from China. By the time the ICC finally brings al-Bashir to court, how many more women and girls will have lost their innocence, their health, and in too many cases, their lives?
It is enough. We are better than this.
